Frequently Asked Questions

What is a grease trap or grease interceptor?

A grease trap/grease interceptor is a unit that slows down the flow of water from the normal day-to-day operations of a kitchen, helping separate fats, oils, and grease (FOG) from wastewater before it enters into the sewer system. This helps prevent build-up in pipes, preventing clogs, and preventing the FOG from entering into the sanitary sewer lines and system.

Do I still need my grease trap pumped if I don't use a lot of oil, fat, or grease at my business?

Regardless of whether or not oil, fat, or greasy foods are regularly used or sold at your business, eventually your grease trap will most likely still need to be cleaned. Fats, oil, and grease (FOG) can still accumulate from dishwashing, food preparation, and operational activities. Some cities still require businesses to comply with local regulations and to keep their grease trap on a specified schedule, regardless of how free of FOG the grease trap may appear to be.

How often should I have my grease trap cleaned?

The schedule of your grease trap is based on each businesses' operations. A schedule can be affected depending on if your grease trap is an interior, an exterior, the size of your grease trap, the amount of grease your kitchen produces, the preference of the customer, and the regulations of the county or city that they are located in. A quarterly schedule is the most requested schedule and we tend to find the best outcome with this schedule on exterior grease traps, but some grease traps do not produce much FOG and can go much longer. We generally go based on the customer's preference first and then adjust the schedule as needed or if we notice that it needs done much sooner.

Do you repair/install grease traps?

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer grease trap installations or repairs. But we do help to note and recommend any repairs needed by monitoring your grease trap during service visits, examining the condition of your grease trap and making maintenance recommendations to avoid defects and future issues from occuring, and we ensure that the grease trap is running well after it has been serviced and doesn't need a plumbers intervention.

What is your service area?

We service the entirety of the Utah state, as well as parts of Sweetwater County in Wyoming, and parts of Bannock and Bonneville County in Idaho. We try to stick to the cities of Rock Springs and Green River in Wyoming, but every once in a while we will take on a customer a little outside of those cities. As for Idaho, we tend to stick to the cities of Pocatello, Chubbuck, and Idaho Falls, as that is the majority of our customer base in Idaho. If you would like to know if we service your area, as every once in a while we will go a little further out, you can always still give us a call and we would be happy to go over it with you!

What steps do I need to take to prepare my septic tank to be pumped?

Locate where your septic tank is, make sure the lid is uncovered and unobscured, so that all we have to do when we get on site is open the lid and pump it out. The lid doesn't have to be opened, just exposed so we can open it ourselves.

How do I find the lid to my septic tank?

Checking your property records, such as building plans, permits, or property inspections. Most of the time these will have a diagram to show where your septic is located. If you are still unable to locate it, you can contact your local health department and they will have records to show you where it is located.
